I'll be honest, from what I heard about others who had read this, I was expecting constant out of place name-dropping and a very rude and spoiled tone. I was pleasantly surprised to learn I was wrong.
While yes, Gilbert does mention a lot of famous people, it did make sense why she mentioned them. She used them in a very reasonable context, and didn't just randomly add a bunch of names to sound more important.
I was surprised to see just how open she was about some of the more private and embarrassing aspects of her life and how raw her emotions were. That's really very impressive.
Overall, I would strongly recommend this book to anyone who was a fan of Little House or who feels ashamed of needing to reach out to a psychological professional for hardships during their lives.
